Associate Professor and holder of the Zachry Career Development Professorship II, Civil & Environmental Engineering and Director of the Stochastic Geomechanics Laboratory (SGL) at Texas A&M University (TAMU)

Short Bio

Dr.Medina-Cetina is Associate Professor at the Zachry Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering (CVEN) at Texas A&M University (TAMU), where he applies probabilistic risk assessment and management of systems, which components vary in space and time. He completed a Master of Engineering in Civil Engineering (geostatistics) at the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM) in 1996. He received a Master of Science and Ph.D., both in Civil Engineering (Stochastic Mechanics), from Johns Hopkins University in 2005 and 2006 respectively. Recently, he received two departmental awards including the Zachry Career Development Professorship II endowment (2022) in recognition of his many accomplishments and future potential, and the Zachry Excellence in Teaching Award. From TAMU’s College of Engineering, he was awarded the Excellence Award for Outstanding Contributions in Research, Teaching, Scholarship, Professional Service, and Student Interaction.
