Title of Research:
Bayesian Networks and GIS for Risk Assessment and Decision Making

Description of Research

Use of Bayesian Networks and Geographical Information Systems for Risk Assessment modeling in prognosis and diagnosis reasoning for Oil&Gas site developments. The analysis of "Hazards", "Vulnerability" and "Cost" represents a comprehensive definition of the spatial risk for the Barnett and Eagle Ford Shale Plays. A Risk Index based on environmental sensibility has been mapped using Surface Water, Aquifers, Ecoregions and Land Use/Land Cover spatial variables through a computational tool called BN+GIS. This tool have served as a proof of concept to further evaluate Societal and Economic Risk. Other areas of interests include geostatistical analysis for site investigations using geophysical data for geotechnical and geological characterization and parameter estimation.
