Dr. Anna Shidlovskaya visited Texas A&M University on September 15th to present her work on \”The Dos and Don’ts for a Future Professional Engineer,” to Civil Engineering Graduate Students. The graduate seminar, Structures, Geotechnical and Construction Division is instructed by Dr. Zenon Medina-Cetina, Associate Professor in the Zachry Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Texas A&M University. This seminar was facilitated by Dr. Jean-Louis BRIAUD, a University Distinguished Professor within TAMU CVEN department, who introduced his former PhD student, Dr. Shidlovskaya.
Dr. Shidlovskaya is an accomplished Senior Engineer with a strong academic background. She holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University, with a focus on Geotechnical Engineering. In 2005 she earned a previous Ph.D. in Engineering Geology. She is currently a Senior Engineer at TerraconConsultants in Conroe, Texas. Dr. Shidlovskaya has over 15 years of teaching experience as a professor in engineering geology and geotechnical engineering. She has also been involved in significant construction projects, including the design of Europe’s tallest tower, which stands at 1,516ft (about 462.08 m). She is also a prolific author, having published over 100 articles and reports in geotechnical engineering.
Her seminar focused on sharing advice through personal experience, on what it takes to become a successful professional engineer. With her vast array of experience in industry and academia, she shared her dos and don’ts for future engineers to best develop the knowledge, skills, judgement, and ability to become a successful engineer through professional engineering education, training, and experience. *
