SGL’s Director, Dr. Zenon Medina-Cetina, presented a lecture at the 2013 Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) Conference on Computational Science and Engineering (CSE13). This year’s conference took place in Boston, Massachusetts from February 25-March 1, 2013.

“The conference seeks to enable in-depth technical discussions on a wide variety of major computational efforts on large problems in science and engineering, foster the interdisciplinary culture required to meet these large-scale challenges, and promote the training of the next generation of computational scientists.” (2013 SIAM Conference on Computational Science and Engineering (CSE13) Website)

The lecture, titled, “Landslides Thresholds for Early-Warning Systems: History, Challenges and Perspectives,” was presented by Dr. Medina-Cetina and co-author, Jose Cepeda, from the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI). It was categorized with the conference topic: From Soft to Probabilistic Computing in Large Scale Geo- and Eco- Processes.
