Title of Research:
Probabilistic Calibration Method for the Assimilation of Scientific Evidence

Description of Research:
The fourth paradigm of scientific discovery aims at enriching the expert's judgment by improving his/her ability to properly assimilate theoretical and experimental evidence, through an efficient computational implementation. With the hypothesis that evidence is represented using probability principles, this research aims to derive a systematic quantification framework in order to describe uncertainty inherent to each participating source of evidence. By allowing all potential combination and correlation in different sources of evidence, the correlation structure as well as significance between them will be depicted in the probability maps through computational integration. The benefits of this study will be translated in an improved, quantitative understanding of specific physical phenomena of interest, and ultimately aid improved decision-making and optimal use of resources in the practical activities.
