College Station, Tx – As part of the second phase of the Yucatan Initiative in Agriculture and Life Sciences, a second workshop takes place at TAMU. In this workshop participate 14 researchers from the System of Research, Innovation, and Technological Development of the State of Yucatan (SIIDETEY), and 23 researchers from Texas A&M University (TAMU), which jointly, are given the task to generate short and long-term research proposals.
Additionally, they must propose financial schemes to develop improvement projects for the State of Yucatan in the following areas: Aquaculture, agro diversity, animal science, horticulture, water quality, and food science. The participant researchers from SIIDETEY represent various institutions from Mexico including the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), Autonomous University of Yucatan (UADY), Scientific Investigation Center of Yucatan (CICY), and the Research and Technology and Design Assistance Center of Jalisco State (CIATEJ).
Dr. Zenon Medina-Cetina, Director of the Yucatan Initiative, and Dr. Alan Sams, Executive Associate Dean in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, present the objectives of the workshop and the expected final results. The research proposals must emphasize the relevance of the projects, their scientific merit as well as the impact, the binational problems that these aim to solve, and the anticipated results and products to obtain.
This second workshop intends to launch projects in Agriculture and Life Sciences, which will be developed by researchers from both institutions, SIIDETEY and Texas A&M University.
